I've just spent all morning (and the better part of the afternoon) watching Heston Blumenthal make a risotto in at least 25 different stages. And I actually considered making it myself.
See, that's what happens when you're marooned at home all weekend (need I say why?). Wait, I take that back- oreo chocolate chip pancakes are what actually happens.
I've had half a box of oreo cookie crumbs left over from Thanksgiving*, and since I've already made two oreo-crusted pies this past month alone, I thought I'd try to find a more creative way of getting rid of them. Since I was making pancakes for breakfast on sunday I figured, why not throw some into the batter?
I just used a standard buttermilk pancake recipe, and substituted 1/4 c. of flour with 1/2 c. oreo crumbs, and added some chocolate chips at the end. I don't know why I never thought of this earlier, it's the perfect chocolate-yness in the morning, not too sweet, works well with the buttermilk, and still makes for a great pancake consistency. When you fry them you can actually smell the oreo- it's what I imagine an oreo factory must smell like...
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get back to doing very important things, and reading very important articles online (isn't the Ming Vase one beautiful?).
*Am I already linking up to myself?
