I ran away to the circus last saturday night for a drop-in class on aerial acrobactics. I came back bruised, aching, ecstatic... and a little more trapeze-y!
Tust me it's all harder than it looks, but so so fun!
I've always wanted to learn how to do the silks (the long fabric you climb up and do the acrobatics on), so I signed up for a class at the wonderfully-named Wonderful School of Circus in a sketchy corner of Markham. They even had dove cages outside the door! They had the flying trapeze bar, the aerial hoop, the rope and the trampoline.
Apparently I have zero upper body strength. It took all of two people to push me up a rope (that's one per butt cheek).
RocM two seconds before letting go and flipping backwards... (face censored for anonymity)
Anyway, I'm hitting the weight circuits at the gym and definitely coming back for the silks... you just wait Tanya!
Tanya the tiny & adorable silks expert. AMAZING!
Want to give it a go? Check out...

That's awesome you have the guts to try it out...very impressive! lots of love x
ReplyDeleteI love watching people work the silks!
ReplyDeleteI may have to give this a try, although I'll probably need to be pushed up too.
